35, Ops Director - I'm glad to be part of B&B family having previously struggled to find the right balance of daily routine, physical activity and healthy eating. Outdoors walks allow me to reconnect with nature and indoor badminton is great fun filled exercise. At present I maintain badminton ranking system and post hiking pictures but look forward to being a volunteer in other areas.

Ifty Ahmed

Ifty Ahmed, 50, Teacher: I have always been an outdoors person and although I enjoy weekly hikes to my local Campsies and Kilpatrick hills it’s the fly fishing for wild trout I am really passionate about.

What started as a casual trip with a friend over twenty years ago soon turned into a lifetime passion. Least to say I have been “hooked on fishing” ever since that first trip. I have fished lochs and rivers as far afield as rolling hills of Galloway in the south to remote wilderness of Assynt and Durness in the north.

Through my observation as being a member of various angling clubs and associations and fishing throughout Scotland it is noticeable that angling is not popular amongst BEM communities. There are various reasons but the most common one I often hear is “fishing is boring”. Surprisingly this comes from only those who have never tried. Those who tried have never looked back.

Therefore through Boots and Beards platform it’s my aim to introduce more people to amazing art of fly fishing. Rest assured you will not be bored but hooked on a new pastime.
